Kata Wéber is a leading Hungarian screenwriter and playwright. Following graduation from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, many of her theatrical pieces began performing across Europe. At this time, she began collaborating with film director Kornél Mundruczó.

Their first film together, White God (2014), won the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes Film Festival. Their second, Jupiter's Moon (2017), was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes 2017. This was followed by Pieces of a Woman (2020), based on Kata's own play, which earned an Academy Award Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role nomination for Vanessa Kirby and many nominations at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes amd Toronto International Film Festival. It won Best Film at the Venice Film Festival. Their most recent film, Evolution (2021) has continued their award-winning streak.
