Ariane Labed is a French actor and director and has recently wrapped her directorial debut Feature Film SEPTEMBER SAYS, which has been selected for Cannes 2024.
Her first film, (Attenberg) by Athina Rachel Tsangari, won her the Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival and at the Festival Premier Plan in Angers (2010).
She has worked with Yorgos Lanthimos (Alps, The Lobster), Philippe Grandrieux (Malgré la nuit), Justin Kurzel (Assassin's Creed), Lucie Borleteau (Fidelio l'odyssée d'Alice) for which she won the Best Actress Award at the Locarno Film Festival and was nominated for a Best Upcoming César Award. Other film credits include: Richard Linklater’s ‘Before Midnight’, Garth Davis’s ‘Mary Magdalene’, and ‘The Souvenir’ and 'The Souvenir Part II' directed by Joanna Hogg.
She recently starred in Peter Strickland's new film 'Flux Gourmet' which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival on February 11, 2022.

Ariane Labed is a well-known actor, as well as screenwriter and director based in London.
Ariane studied at Provence University, where she co-founded the Vasistas theatre company. She made her acting debut in Attenberg, a feature film directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari, for which she was awarded the Volpi cup for best actress at the Venice Film Festival. Ariane went on to feature in a range of French and international projects including Richard Linklater’s Before Midnight, Alice’s Journey by Lucie Borleteau (for which she won Best Actress at the Locarno Festival and was nominated for a César award), The Lobster by Yórgos Lánthimos (winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival) and Assassin's Creed by Justin Kurzel (co-starring Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender). Ariane most recently played the lead role in "Trigonometry", a series for the BBC.
Ariane wrote and directed her first short film "OLLA" presented at the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival 2019 and selected in numerous festivals around the world including Telluride, the BFI London Film Festival and Sundance. “OLLA” won the Louis le Prince International Short Film award at the Leeds Film Festival in 2019, as well as 3 awards at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2020 including the National Grand Prix prize.
