FOLK returns to Hampstead Theatre

We're beyond thrilled to share the return of Nell Leyshon's Olivier Award nominated play Folk at the Hampstead Theatre, following its sold-out run earlier in the year!

Starring UA's own Ben Allen, with Sound Design by Tingying Dong

Inspired by a true story, Nell Leyshon's beautiful new play is a love letter to music. Set in Somerset, 1903, it explores the legacy of folk tune collector Cecil Sharp and delves into the extraordinary mind of Louie Hooper, a young woman from Somerset with a musical gift. The intimate production is a celebration of the heart, history and community of song, taking the audience on a poetic quest to preserve music that speaks for the whole of England.

★★★★★ 'Leyshon’s poetic way with words, the subtle modulations of Roxana Silbert’s scenically humble production and the superb, lived-in detail of the four actors hold us in thrall. This wonderful play deserves to endure.' The Telegraph
★★★★ 'A lyrical, complex celebration of Cecil Sharp' The Times
★★★★★ 'Setting the bar for new writing impressively high with this beauty. Breathtaking writing, flawless staging. Folk deserves to be around for a very long time.' WhatsOnStage
