William Oldroyd's EILEEN receives rave reviews at Sundance

William Oldroyd's second feature film EILEEN has received rave reviews after its debut at Sundance this year. Based upon Ottessa Moshfegh's novel of the same name and adapted by both Oldroyd and Moshfegh, EILEEN tells the story of a young woman's (Thomasin McKenzie) friendship with a new co-worker (Anne Hathaway) at the prison facility where she works. After starting as an infatuation the relationship soon takes a sinister turn.

'EILEEN is a stylish and wild ride that never lets up from its first frame to its shocking finale. [...] Expect to be enthralled.' - Murtada Elfadl, AV Club

'Wildly audacious', 'wonderfully twisted' and 'deliciously deranged'; 'there's an icicle dagger in the demented heart of William Oldroyd's droll, immaculately crafted, genre-devouring portrait of perversity.' - Jessica Kiang, Variety

'There’s not a spare millimetre of fat on the lean and well-oiled muscle of William Oldroyd’s noir-inflected tale of obsession that fully confirms the talent he showed in his 2016 debut LADY MACBETH [...] Full of deliciously dark surprises, this is also a film to be savoured for its craft' - Amber Wilkinson, Screen Daily

'William Oldroyd's darkly romantic Ottessa Moshfegh adaptation already feels close to iconic. [...] Oldroyd is clearly a master assembler of styles' - Ryan Lattanzio, IndieWire
