Joe is a theatre and opera director based in London.  He directed his first professional production in 2002 as winner of the James Menzies-Kitchen Young Director Award. Between 2000 and 2004 he worked for the Royal Court Theatre as an assistant director and then Trainee Associate Director. Between 2007 and 2013 he was a resident director at the Young Vic Theatre, becoming Deputy Artistic Director in 2010.

In 2023 he directed his own adaptation of Ibsen’s Ghosts for the Globe Wannamaker Theatre and a new production of A View from the Bridge for Parco Japan.
