E V Crowe's HERO opens at the Royal Court
HERO, the new play by E V Crowe, has now opened at the Royal Court Theatre.
Danny’s gay, a primary school teacher, and he’s not afraid of anything. His colleague Jamie’s straight, and thinks he should be.
It follows her full-length debut (also at the Court), KIN, which played there at the end of 2010 and for which she was shortlisted for the 2011 Charles Wintour Most Promising Playwright Award.
EV Crowe’s drama fizzes like a firework
Telegraph ****
a darkly funny , thought-provoking follow-up to Kin
Independent
The play is both emotionally convincing and highly entertaining. Although the subject matter is concerned with education in the widest sense, Crowe is never didactic or preachy. All this is quietly inspiring …A relevant and passionately felt new play.
The Stage
Crowe raises some very important points. What should we tell children about sexuality, and when? How do we encourage tolerance and dispel prejudice? How liberal are we when pushed?
Financial Times
HERO plays in the Royal Court’s Jerwood Upstairs Theatre until 22nd December, and while the run is all but sold out, there is limited availability and day seats for some performances, details for which can be found here.
