Isy Suttie and Meera Syal Nominated for Sony Award

The nominations have been announced for the prestigious Sony Radio Awards.

Nominated for best comedy is ISY SUTTIE’S Pearl and Dave, a BBC Radio Comedy for BBC Radio 4.  Adapted from her sell out Edinburgh 2011 show of the same name, Isy recounts a moving love story involving a socially awkward childhood neighbour (her first pen pal) and a 'well-bred' girl from Surrey.  She interweaves the narrative with her own tales of failed relationships, internet dating and eventual happiness, much of which is told through song.

Also nominated for best comedy is MEERA SYAL’S Asian Comedy Night, a BBC Asian Network & Tonic Productions for BBC Asian Network.  As one of Britain's most prominent Asian comedians, Meera Syal presents a four-part series, exploring the history and future of British Asian comedy.

The 31st Sony Radio Academy Awards will be hosted by Chris Evans and take place on May 13 at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
