Singapore picks ILO ILO as Oscar chance
Anthony Chen’s debut feature ILO ILO has been selected as Singapore’s contender in the foreign-language Oscar category.
Director of the Singapore Film Commission, Yeo Chun Cheng, commented on the decision:
“’Ilo Ilo’ is a uniquely Singapore story about resilience in family relationships, a theme which also resonates with the rest of the world,”
The film was the unanimous winner of the Camera d’Or prize for best debut feature at Cannes in May.
