KING CHARLES III opens at the Almeida
KING CHARLES III has opened at the Almeida Theatre to universally rave reviews. Directed by Artistic Director Rupert Goold, Mike Bartlett’s controversial new play imagines the troubled early days of Charles' ascension to the throne, and in doing so explores both the unwritten rules of our democracy, and the conscience of Britain’s most famous family. The cast includes Tim Pigott-Smith, Oliver Chris and UA's Lydia Wilson.
“Bold, brilliant and unstoppably entertaining.... Theatre doesn’t get much better than this.” ***** (Dominic Maxwell, The Times)
“The most spectacular, gripping and wickedly entertaining piece of lèse-majesté that British theatre has ever seen..... I suspect people will be camping out on the streets of Islington to get tickets to this outstanding and provocative play.” ***** (Charles Spencer, The Telegraph)
