Francis Wheen is an award-winning journalist, having received the Orwell Prize for his collected journalism in 2003, and serving as Deputy Editor of the Private Eye until 2022. He regularly appears on broadcast channels, including BBC Radio 4. He has additionally written for the Evening Standard and held a column in The Guardian.
Francis is the author of numerous books, many with political or biographical focus. His biography of Karl Marx won the Deutscher Memorial Prize and has since been translated in twenty languages.
His docudrama, THE LAVENDER LIST was written for BBC Four focused on Harold Wilson’s final cabinet, and was first screened in 2006.
