P Burton-Morgan (they/them) read PPE at Oxford before becoming Artistic Director and Founder of touring theatre company Metta Theatre in 2005. P has written over a dozen original plays and musicals for Metta, including digital musical Cells, which was on the Guardian’s list of best theatre to stream in 2022, The Little Prince, which was on the Guardian’s list of Top 25 Christmas Shows in 2022 and In the Willows which won the WGGB award for book writing 2020. In 2018, P was opera artist-in-residence at the V&A and Metta was Associate company at Exeter Northcott from 2016-2019. Current productions include world premieres of their two latest musicals: Sherlock Holmes and the Poison Wood at The Watermill and Medusa's First Kiss at The Little Angel. As a poet their work has been anthologized by Arachne Press and their verse plays include Wondr (Edinburgh Festival), You Lay Your Hand Backwards on My Heart (Audio Drama, shortlisted for Bolton Octagon Prize) and a spoken word narration of Handel's Messiah in the West End's Theatre Royal Drury Lane. They are an autistic artist passionate about big ideas and deep thinking, representing diversity, and queer joy in particular. They live in rural Somerset with their two children.
