Victoria Donovan is a researcher and writer based at the University of St Andrews. Her work on Ukraine and Russia has won grants and prizes from the British Academy, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, The Carnegie Trust, and the Arts and Humanities Research Council. An AHRC/BBC New Generation Thinker, she is a regular contributor to BBC Radio, in particular to BBC Radio 3's Arts and Ideas, The Essay, and Free Thinking. She is the author of Chronicles in Stone: Preservation, Patriotism and Identity in the Russian Northwest, published by Cornell University Press in 2019, and the co-author of Limits of Collaboration: Art, Ethics and Donbas, published by Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in 2022.
