Originally a theatre director, William is an artistic director, producer and arts consultant. He was Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Cork Midsummer Festival from 2007-2011 where he commissioned Spencer Tunick Ireland, Diarmuid Gavin's Chelsea gold medal award-winning Cork Sky Garden, and the international theatre hit Fuck My Life (made with 20 Irish teenagers and Campo Arts Centre agent). He was Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Norfolk & Norwich Festival from 2011-2017 where he commissioned Robert Wilson's WALKING and Circa's How Like An Angel in co-productions with London's 2012, another hit teens show with Campo Arts Centre - Wildlife FM, which was seen all over the world. At NNF William commissioned music, digital and outdoor arts and was a director of Without Walls and Creative Europe's IN SITU programme for over a decade. As a consultant, William co-wrote Nottingham's European Capital of Culture bid and advised on the artistic programmes for Waltham Forest and Brent London Borough of Culture. In 2019 he created the Citizen of Nowhere Festival for the National Theatre of Scotland, exploring theatre, technology and civil society. William was a Creative Programmer for Kirklees Year of Music 2023, commissioning Artichoke's HERD, which won the Yorkshire Tourism Event of the Year award. Since 2021 William has been Director of Programming and Impact at JW3 - London's Jewish Cultural Centre, bringing Little Amal on her first return trip to London and commissioning the UK's first Jewish Panto.
