zazU are a comedy group made up of writer/performers Harrie Hayes, Tom Machell, Nick Read, Maddie Rice and writer/director Katharine Armitage.
zazU is also the strange new world in which the team’s comedy takes place.
The group met in 2013 when they were put together for a run of the satirical sketch show NewsRevue. When the run ended they decided to stay together and embrace their shared love of the surreal, dark and silly. This led to the creation of zazU: a character and narrative based comedy show built from a host of absurd inhabitants, alternative laws and epic goings on.
Perhaps the best description for it is this:
“zazU = Monty Python + Jam&Jerusalem + League of Gentleman + 1950s Radio 4... IT'S EFFING AMAZING!!” (Tweet from audience member)
zazU have performed sell out shows at Leicester Square, St James’ & Pleasance Theatres and are just back from their run of ‘zazU: A Fête Worse Than Death’ at the Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh Fringe. They are currently developing their work for radio and TV.
