Audrey Sheffield

Audrey is an award-winning UK and international freelance director, specialising in new writing, and committed to making work that is rigorous, imaginatively ambitious, and emotionally truthful.
She is a recipient of a Michael Grandage Company Futures Bursary 2020, was an Old Vic 12 Director 2019, nominated for the Arts Foundation Award 2018 and Finalist Best Director for the Off-West End Awards 2017/2018 (The Dark Room, Theatre503).
She trained as a theatre director with Sam Kogan in London and Moscow, and through further directing programmes and invited workshops at the Young Vic, National Theatre Studio, RSC and with Peter Brook.
As director, theatre includes: Jews. In Their Own Words (Royal Court); Neighbourhood Voices, Tapestry (Young Vic); Perspective (National); The Dybbuk (Almeida); We Too Are Giants (Kiln); Sleepwalking (Hampstead); The Effect, Apologia (English Theatre Frankfurt); The Dark Room (Theatre503); The Scar Test (Arcola); Little Flower of East Orange (National Theatre Studio).
Associate / Resident directing includes productions with Patrick Marber, Ian Rickson, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Carrie Cracknell, Rupert Goold, Clare Lizzimore, Mark Ravenhill and Elizabeth LeCompte - at the Old Vic, National Theatre, RSC, Hampstead Theatre and in the West End.
Alongside theatre projects, Audrey also works as a voice / performance director for video games. Recent credits include: Tom Clancy’s The Division (Ubisoft); Wuthering Waves (Kuro); Meet Your Maker (Behaviour Interactive).
Audrey is currently Associate Director on Stranger Things: The First Shadow, working with Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin.
She has dual citizenship and holds a US passport.
