Film, TV & Theatre
John is an award-winning composer, music producer and songwriter from West Yorkshire.
He studied theatre and film at Manchester University before spending several years on tour and releasing records with his alt-folk/electronic band The Little Unsaid, playing at major festivals including Glastonbury and receiving radio play from the likes of Iggy Pop and Guy Garvey.
In recent years he has returned to theatre and film work, most notably composing and performing the live electronic score for Jack Holden’s Olivier-nominated play Cruise on London’s West End in 2021. Following a sell-out run and rave reviews the play returned for a limited run at The Apollo on London’s West End in August 2022, with its regional premier taking place in Manchester in 2023.
John won the Stage Debut Award for Best Composer, Lyricist or Book Writer for his score for Cruise.
He was also the recipient of the Steve Reid InNOVAtion Award for boundary-pushing music creators, judged by a panel of music industry professionals including Gilles Peterson, Four Tet and Floating Points.
Recent feature film scores include Wild Isles and Three Moons of Biyangdo, currently touring international film festivals.
As well as working on new compositions with support from the Do It Differently Fund, John is currently working as a composer and performer on the development of numerous upcoming theatre projects.
