Megan Smith

Megan is an emerging writer from the North East of England, now living in London.

A recent graduate of The London Library Emerging Writers Programme (22/23), she is currently a part of SEEFEST Writers Lab (23/24). In 2023, she was shortlisted for The Jed Mercurio Mentorship Scheme, landing in the final 10% of applicants. She will also take part in the inaugural Watersprite Hubs in March 2024.

Her work has been a finalist for Filmarket Hubs Feature Screenplay Competition and a Quarterfinalist for The Academy Nicholl Fellowship. Her monologue, THREE LITTLE WORDS, was selected for Miniver Theatre Monologue Competition. Megan has been working with Motif Pictures on an original TV Drama concept.

Most recently, Megan worked closely with Mike Leigh on his upcoming feature film Hard Truths as the Rehearsal AD (Script).

She will direct her first short film, WOOL COAT, which is fully funded, in April 2024. HIDING FROM TROLLS, another short in development, will shoot in May 2024.
