“...to me Goold and Ben Power’s adaptation was as beautifully cut and shaped as the topiary in the garden through which Richard’s (one suspects chaste) queen wandered in Act III. An out-and-out triumph.” - The Times 5*
“...what a sumptuous treat this Richard turned out to be. Goold, best known for his fluently visual stage productions that find new ways with old texts, proved himself a natural film-maker.” - The Telegraph 4*
"... a striking cameo from David Bradley as a gruff gardener."
"The Hollow Crown promises to be one if the year's most memorable television dramas." - The Evening Standard 4*
“This was the first made-for-TV Shakespeare that was, to misquote Hamlet, a palpable hit, for the simple reason that Shakespeare came to television, instead of insisting that television go to Stratford.” - The Sunday Times
