Christopher Granier-Deferre

Christopher is a seasoned producer with a career spanning over thirty years, five continents, a brief spell in ‘zero G’ and a considerably colder stint in the arctic. He began as a runner, moved through the ranks to first assistant director, then production manager and line-producer before becoming a producer / executive producer in his own right. His expertise encompasses film and television, from blockbuster studio fare to micro-budget features via factual television.

He most recently Executive Produced Henry Blakes BAFTA-nominated "ferociously powerful" debut COUNTY LINES. He produced Cannes 2020 Official Shorts Selection MOUNTAIN CAT (Shiluus) by Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir. The film won the Sonje Award for Best Short Film at Busan and also screened at Sundance, Toronto, London and Locarno. He Executive Produced Seemab Gul’s short film SANDSTORM (Mulaqat) selected for the 78th Venice International Film Festival. His production SCARBOROUGH by Barnaby Southcombe was awarded Best Screenplay at the Macao International Film Festival in 2018.

Prior to this he served as Executive Producer for the BBC / BFI and Creative England on their ground-breaking emerging talent scheme iFeatures, overseeing a slate that included award winning breakout hits LADY MACBETH, APOSTASY, THE LEVELLING and GODS OWN COUNTRY.

Christopher is a long-serving member of the Selection Committee for the prestigious Locarno Film Festival Open Doors section, dedicated to nurturing talent from around the world, working alongside and supporting filmmakers telling stories in some of the most politically charged and economically challenged nations in the world. Christopher is a long-serving member of the Selection Committee for the prestigious Locarno Film Festival Open Doors section, dedicated to nurturing talent from around the world, working alongside and supporting filmmakers telling stories in some of the most politically charged and economically challenged nations in the world. He is currently Executive Producer on Svart Krabba by Adam Berg for Netflix.
